The Henkel Art.Award. was bestowed on the prize winner within the framework of a gala ceremony which took place in the tresor of the BA-CA Kunstforums on November 2, 2006. The Czech photographic artist Soňa Goldová received the award in the presence of Mr. Günter Thumser, President of Henkel CEE, Ms. Ingried Brugger, Director of the BA-CA Kunstforums, and Mr. Riedel of the Art Section of the Austrian Federal Chancellery.

“The jury was particularly impressed by the creative diversity reflected in the dramatic breadth of Soňa Goldová’s works. Social issues are reflected upon, just as the artist also tries to provide a deeper insight into everyday sensitivities and feelings, architecture, urban living or the peripheries in a suburban context. The various strategies used by the photographic artist are also remarkable, ranging from a documentary style and digitally manipulated pictures to staged photography, in which mundane objects of everyday life, such as shoes, plates or laundry, come together to form imaginary landscape formations“, says Mr. Carl Aigner, Director of the Niederösterreichischen Landesmuseums St. Pölten and chairman of the jury, in justifying the choice of Ms. Goldová.

Soňa Goldová was born in Hustopeče, Czech Republic, in 1979. In the year 2004, Ms. Goldová completed her studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. Her works have already been displayed in many cities, for example Barcelona, Prague and Vienna.
